Injunction for Protection Services Process
To begin the process of receiving services, individuals can call, fill out the form below, or walk in. Referrals may also come from our 24/7 crisis helpline or from Victim Advocates at the Sheriff’s Office or State Attorney’s Office.
There is then an Initial Eligibility Screening, conducted either in person or via phone, to determine if the individual qualifies for our services.
Next, we provide the individual with an Injunction Questionnaire, which gathers detailed information about what has occurred and the reasons for seeking an injunction, as well as demographic information for both parties involved.
An Initial Consultation is scheduled to review the completed questionnaire and assess whether there is legal sufficiency to file an injunction on their behalf.
If appropriate, the Injunction for Protection attorney drafts the injunction packet. Once the packet is complete, an appointment is scheduled for the client to come into the office, review, and sign the packet. The packet is then submitted to the clerk’s office for the judge’s review, with the goal of obtaining a temporary injunction.
Finally, a Final Hearing is scheduled with the judge who reviewed the initial petition.
Additionally, we offer court representation to survivors who have "self-filed" for an injunction.
