Resident Advocate

Quigley House, a certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, is looking for a Full Time Resident Advocate to add to our staff.

$15.50 - $16 an hour - Full-time

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High School diploma or GED required, 1 year crisis intervention with victims of domestic violence preferred. Certification in first aid and C.P.R. also preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and data entry. All Resident Advocates must successfully complete ACT and CORE Comp training. All Resident Advocates must be willing to submit to drug screening and extensive background checks. Must be willing to work mid shifts and overnights, as well as weekends and holidays. Resident Advocates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Resident Advocates must be willing to work holidays, weekends and other shifts as requested by the Director Domestic Violence Services.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide domestic violence and sexual assault participant advocacy services, daily to include, but not limited to, the following: Providing crisis intervention and information/referral to hotline callers. Performing all required victim follow-ups and record keeping. Service management and follow-up to include: Safety planning with all participants. Providing advocacy, crisis intervention and information and referrals (including referrals for community resources and services as appropriate) to shelter residents. Participate in service management meetings, as required, assist with file maintenance and submit monthly statistical reports, per funding requirements. Assisting domestic violence victims with filing victim’s compensation claims. Provide shelter-based services to residents, including but not limited to: Orientation with new residents regarding communal living and assisting new residents in meeting their immediate needs (food, clothing, toiletry items, etc). Providing crisis intervention and emotional support to residents. Conduct intake and exit interviews with any person who is admitted or discharged from the shelter. Review all intake and exits to ensure accuracy and completion of records. Arrange transportation of participants as appropriate.


Sexual Assault Advocate

Quigley House, a certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, is looking for a Full Time Sexual Assault Advocate to add to our staff.

$17 - $20 an hour - Full-time

 

QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree preferred in social work, psychology, or human services or 1 year of equivalent sexual assault and/or domestic violence advocacy case management/counseling experience. Ability to network with community service agencies and maintain good interagency relations. Sexual Assault Advocate must be able to work flexible hours as needed, including evening, overnight and weekend hours. Must have a current driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Will be on call and respond to the scene/hospital or Sexual Assault Center (SAC) as needed. Must possess computer skills by demonstrating the ability to perform basic mastery of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as other electronic systems utilized by the organization. Must pass an extensive background check.

JOB SUMMARY: The Sexual Assault Advocate is responsible for working directly with survivors of sexual assault. This includes providing accompaniment to sexual assault forensic exams, providing legal accompaniment during law enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office interviews, and providing advocacy and accompaniment through legal proceedings, both criminal and civil cases. Advocates are responsible for assessing the needs of survivors and making appropriate referrals. Must have an extensive mastery in the dynamics of power and control based violence. The advocate will provide crisis intervention services, safety planning, and information/education on the dynamics of sexual assault to survivors, their families, their school/colleges, and their workplace as needed with the survivor’s consent. This position is not a clinical service position, but instead is a supportive service position.
